It is the stone from which the great outer circle and the mighty trilithons of Stonehenge were raised around 2500 BC. Research has traced most of those colossal Stonehenge sarsens to West Woods, near the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire. These ancient stones have endured thousands of years of wind, rain and human history, standing as silent witnesses to ceremonies, changing cultures and the turning of countless seasons.
